9th grade Open Campus Lunch Privileges for Q4 will continue from Q3. Once eligibility is reviewed this week, if you are no longer eligible, or if you have now earned the privilege, you will be notified by the end of this week.

Jr & Sr Open Campus Privileges for Q4 will continue from Q3, providing you are still eligible. If you are no longer eligible, you will be notified by the end of this week. Students with a D or an E grade for a Q3 will not be eligible.

If you are new to open campus privileges for Q4, you'll need to complete the permission form & return it to the North Office. The permission form can be picked up in the library or the North Office. These privileges apply to Juniors & Seniors with study hall any period of the day and/or those taking online classes, as long as they meet criteria outlined in the Student Handbook. Students must prove high levels of responsibility both behaviorally and academically, or the privilege may be revoked. The North office will review your grades & permission forms before the privilege will be granted. The office will need a few days to verify grades, so please be patient and expect to be notified by March 20th. For questions, stop by the North Office.

10th - 12th graders:

Prom 2026 will be held on March 28 at 8pm in the HAC. This event is reserved for VCHS junior and senior students and their guests. Sophomore students may attend if they are invited by a VCHS junior or senior. No freshman students, nor persons who have reached 21 years of age, may attend Prom or Grand March. All students & their guests must pass a breathalyzer test prior to entering. Participation in Prom (including grand march) is also dependent on academic and attendance policy standing (see below).

SIGN-UP & COST --Prom Grand March Sign-up starts Monday, February 23 in the North Office. Cost is $10/person and MUST be paid when signing up (make checks out to VCHS). Class Officers will walk in Grand March first, followed by the rest of the students in sign-up order. Due to printing programs, etc., the FINAL deadline to sign-up is March 25th at 4pm. Students wanting to attend the dance only (no grand march) are also required to sign up and pay in the North Office.

NON-VCHS GUESTS--Students bringing a non-VCHS guest to Prom will need to complete a guest form that can be found in Canvas or in the North Office. This form needs to be approved by Mr. Peterson and MUST be on file in the office by 4pm on March 25th. Guests not having this information on file will NOT be allowed to attend Prom.

ATTENDANCE Eligibility --Must be within the 10-day attendance policy to be eligible.

ACADEMIC Eligibility --Students must be eligible in both in-person and/or online courses. Grade checks will be based on grades at the end of Q3 (March 17). 1 failing class (below 65%) or 1 "off pace" class (8 or less assignments behind) means the student remains eligible; 2 or more failing classes or "off pace" classes means the student is ineligible to participate.

DETENTIONS --Must be served by March 27 at 4pm in order to attend Prom.

We are excited from Prom season to be here soon! The Junior class has been busy planning for a great night!

Juniors, Seniors, and Sophomore Prom Dates: Post-Prom Party Registration forms are available in the North Office. All Prom Goers and All Jrs. and Srs. who will not attend prom can attend the post-prom party at the Eagles. Every student attending must have a completed registration form on file. Cost is $5 per person. Registration and payment are due March 19th in the North Office.

Prom Arrival Time: Students participating in Prom are asked to arrive at the HAC between 6:45-7:15. There is no valet parking this year. Students will enter Door W3 (cafeteria door). The holding area for students will be the Hi-Liner Diner. All students will be breathalyzed as they enter the Hi-Liner Diner. Once you enter, you will NOT be allowed to leave, so bring everything that you need with you. Students will be required to stay in the Hi-Liner Diner until the Grand March line begins at 7:45. Grand March will start promptly at 8pm. Students attending the dance only are also expected to follow the same procedures. A special seating area will be reserved for students who are attending the prom dance but not participating in the Grand March. These students will be lined up first and escorted to their reserve seating area.

We are encouraging all Prom attendees to make a quick visit to 2 of Valley City's assisted living/elderly residential facilities before they check-in to the HAC. This is a great opportunity to show off your formal attire to those who are not able to view Grand March. It really brightens the day of the residents & is a simple and easy way to give back to our community members who do so much to support our schools. We have arranged the time to visit the residents at these locations from 6:30pm-7:15pm. We REALLY would like as many of the prom attendees as possible to make these stops and do a walk through. The addresses are below. You can simply enter at the main entrance, and you will be directed from there.

St. Rafael's Care Center (979 Central Avenue North)

The Legacy Place (570 13th St NE)

Students making these visit should arrive for Prom check-in no later than 7:25pm. Students may receive ½ hour of volunteer hours at each stop. To show you were there, simply take a photo by the front of the building and submit your picture to allison.swenson@k12.nd.us.
