April 19th Junior High Dance - The dance will be in the HAC Lobby from 7pm-9pm. $5 for entry. Some concessions will be sold. Only Valley City students in 7th and 8th grade are allowed to attend.

Grades 11-12: It’s time to register for the post-prom party at the Eagles following prom on May 4th! Please stop in the office for a post-prom registration form or print one from your parents’ email inbox or Canvas. Registration is $5 per person. Make sure to get a form to your date if he or she is not a VCHS junior or senior (e.g., a sophomore or a non-VCHS student). Note: All juniors and seniors are welcome, regardless of whether they attend prom. Registration forms and payment are due by April 19 in the senior high office.

Prom/Grand March: Prom will be held on May 4 at 8pm in the HAC. This event is reserved for VCHS junior and senior students and their guests. Sophomore students may attend if they are invited by a VCHS junior or senior. No freshman students, nor persons who have reached 21 years of age, may attend Prom or Grand March. All students & their guests must pass a breathalyzer test prior to entering. All students must be in good standing and have all detentions served by May 3rd at 4pm in order to attend Prom.

Prom/Grand March Sign-up starts Tuesday, April 9 in the North Office. Cost is $10/person and MUST be paid when signing up (make checks out to: VCHS). Class Officers will walk in Grand March first, followed by the rest of the students in sign-up order. Due to printing programs, etc., the FINAL deadline to sign-up is April 29th at 4pm.

Students bringing a non-VCHS guest to Prom will need to complete a guest form that can be found in Canvas or in the North Office. This form needs to be approved by Mrs. Brandt and MUST be on file in the office by 4pm on May 1st. Guests not having this information on file will NOT be allowed to attend Prom.

Students wanting to attend the dance only (no grand march) are also required to sign up and pay in the North Office.

All students are encouraged to participate. If you do not have a person to walk with in grand march, you can walk with a maximum friend group of 3 if you’d like.

Prom Arrival Time: Students participating in Prom are asked to arrive between 6:45-7:15. Because of the street repairs going on at that time, students are asked to enter door W3 (the cafeteria door). The public will still enter the main HAC Lobby entrance. Students can utilize the valet parking and will enter at door W3. The holding area for students will be the Hi-Liner Diner. All students will be breathalyzed as they enter the Hi-Liner Diner. Once you enter, you will NOT be allowed to leave, so bring everything that you need with you. Students will be required to stay in the Hi-Liner Diner until the Grand March line begins at 7:45. Grand March will start promptly at 8pm.

Students attending the dance only are also expected to follow the same procedures. A special seating area will be reserved for students who are attending the prom dance but not participating in the Grand March. These students will be lined up first and escorted to their reserve seating area.

We are encouraging all Prom attendees to make a quick visit to our 3 Valley City assisted living/elderly residential facilities before they check-in to the HAC. This is a great opportunity to show off your formal attire to those who are not able to view Grand March. It really brightens the day of the residents & is a simple and easy way to give back to our community members who do so much to support our schools. We have arranged the time to visit the residents at these locations from 6:30pm-7:15pm. We REALLY would like as many of the prom attendees as possible to make these stops and do a walk through. Addresses are below. You can simply enter at the main entrance, and you will be directed to where the residents are assembled.

St. Rafael’s Care Center (979 Central Avenue North )

The Legacy Place (570 13th St NE)

Bridgeview Estates (1120 Fifth St NE)

Students making these visit should arrive for Prom check-in no later than 7:25pm.
